SUMMARY: The role of Laboratory Technician Intern is a developmental role within the Inspectorate America Corporation Laboratory. The selected candidate will work 15-29 hours per week at a rate of $15.00 per hour. The assignment length may vary and is at the discretion of the Laboratory Manager. While no guarantee of employment after graduation is made, the Company views the program as a benefit to the intern (experience) and to the Company (potential candidates).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES POST TRAINING: Include, but are not limited to the following:

* Ability to learn the operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
* Ability to learn and perform physical and instrumental analysis, as well as various wet chemistry techniques.
* Sample login, retain and disposal.
* Record test results on standardized forms and/or LIMS.
* Prepare chemical solutions and standards according to standard formulas.
* Learn and perform scheduled calibration and verification procedures on instruments, thermometers, viscometers and hydrometers. Other calibration and verification duties may be assigned.
* Assist in quality assurance practices, SQC, and other protocols where applicable.
* Assist in assuring an adequate supply of materials/inventory is available to analyze various products per ASTM, IAC, UOP, IP, Industry Standard, and Customer Test Methods.
* Other laboratory duties may be assigned depending on workload and laboratory needs.
* Work schedule will likely include some weekends and holidays and require working assigned on-call schedules.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Chemistry or related major, junior or above.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, as well as procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to do mathematics related to laboratory methodology calculations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
